Adolescent-onset type
Adolescent onset is when any individual shows criterion characteristics of Conduct disorder after the age of 10 years. The emotional and behavioral problems that usually begin during the early teen stage of a child is Adolescent-onset type Conduct disorder.
A child having conduct disorder may appear tough and confident but in reality they are often insecure and wrongly believe that people around them are being aggressive and threatening towards them. They show lack of concern about the negative consequences of his or her actions, have callous attitude, lack of empathy.
In adolescent-onset type conduct disorder, the child display following behavior:
- Aggressive conduct: bullying others, physically hurting people and animals around, committing rape, use of weapons.
- Deceitful behaviour: lying, stealing, forgery.
- Destructive behaviour: this may include arson and intentional destruction of property.
- Violation of rules: bunking classes, running away from home, drug and alcohol use, sexual behavior at early age.
In adolescent-onset type, boys generally display more aggressive and destructive behavior compared to girls while girls likely show more deceitful behavior and violation of rules.
