Affection
Affection can be defined as the fondness, liking, and tenderness especially when it is something nonsexual. To define it from another perspective, affection can be understood as the feelings of emotional attachment that occurs between individuals, the individuals in this case are particularly human infants and caregivers, this is termed as the affectional bonds. These affectional bond, their formation, exchange of affection and their functionality are particularly of importance in formulation and understanding of the attachment theory. It can be correctly state that the presence if affection can be found as an evidence by proximity-seeking behaviors, that is the tendency of both the individual to remain in close contact with one another and by the mutual distress they share when there is a loss or any kind of involuntary separation is expected or occurs. Affection leads to intimacy. Intimacy is an integrating dynamism which generally pull out loving reactions from the other person, thereby ensuring decreased anxiety and loneliness, the two extremely painful experiences.
