Apology
To error is human, is a well known proverb. But what do we do once we realize our error? We begin by first apologizing for the mistake we have done. To apologize thus refers to the act of asking for forgiveness upon realizing that someone has gone wrong somewhere. Apology for the act committed usually comes from the side of the transgressor, the victim thereon decides whether to grant the apology (forgive) or not. A person usually ask for an apology upon realizing their mistake and with the aim of correcting himself or herself. There are certain factors affecting the grant of apology or forgiveness:
a) Age: Offensive strategies requires more energy than defensive strategies. Thereby, forgiveness increases with age.
b) Sex/Gender: Biological sex is not the determinant of forgiveness, gender roles might sometimes influence.
c) Severity: Severity of the incident and transgressor.
d) Time: The lapse of time between the incident of transgression and the actual time of forgiveness.
