Assertiveness
The word Assertiveness can be understood as a method of critical thinking. A individual is said to exhibit assertive behaviour when he or she speaks up in the defense of the views they hold which might or might not be correct. Assertive people are often quite outspoken and they analyze the information available to them, in the process pin pointing out the areas of information that exhibit lack of substance, evidence or finer details. It is often seen that Assertive individuals are supporters and flag bearers of effective communication and creative thinking.
However, here it is worth mentioning that within most families, children are usually not encouraged to develop assertiveness skills instead, they are mostly taught to accept and obey their parents. Several psychological studies have depicted that the level of assertiveness that is exhibited in any human community is dependent on the social and cultural practices that is inherent in the person.
