Contributory
The things that plays part in occurrence of something is termed as the contributory factors of that thing. That is to understand from the viewpoint of psychopathology, the factors that are responsible for occurrence of a mental disorder can be called the contributory factors. The following can be important contributory factors for a disorder:
i. Genetics: Genetic studies have provided valuable information about inheritance of
susceptibility to disease.
ii. Neurology: Neuropsychiatry focuses on psychiatric aspects of neurological disorder and the role of brain dysfunction in psychiatric disorder.
iii. Psychoneuroendocrinology: Psychoneuroendocrinology encompasses structural and functional relationship between hormonal system and central nervous system and the behaviour that is modulated and derived from both. .
iv. Temperament: An individual differences approach may be applied to phenomena of susceptibility of an individual towards development of a certain pathology and hence psychiatric disorders. Among the many determinants of individual differences considerable attention has been devoted to personality characteristics which are more or less stable characteristics such as: hardiness , repressions-sensitization, self esteem, self confidence and sense of coherence.
