Emotional intelligence
The term Emotional Intelligence refers to the ability to identify and manage one’s own emotion along with the emotions of others. Intensive research work suggested that emotional intelligence is found to have a significant role in the job performance, decision making, motivation, successful management and also leadership. The level, capacity or potential of one’s emotional intelligence is measured through some constructed tests of situation in life, resulting in one’s emotional quotient. Thus, Emotional Quotient (EQ) can be quite correctly defined as a relative measure of one’s emotional intelligence as possessed by an individual at any particular period of one’s life. The birth of Emotional intelligence can be traced back to Darwin’s early work on the importance of emotional expression for survival of species. The concept of emotional intelligence was popularized in 1995 with psychologist Daniel Goleman’s book on Emotional Intelligence : Why It Can Matter More Than IQ.
