Erratic moods
Erratic Moods refers to the sudden upliftment or deterioration of mood, which can be because of reappraisal of a specific situation, also because of a underlying mental disorder like the mood disorder or certain personality disorders. All of us have witnessed moments of mood swing, when we have been elevated by some external environmental stimuli and have changed from a depressed to euthymic, or the opposite has occurred in some cases. Most of us have also experienced major mood swings due to hormonal causes. However, problem arises when there is frequent mood swings and a person is unable to control one’s arousal. When a person suffers from conditions bipolar mood disorder, or cyclotymia they might continue to be in an elevated mood conditions over hours of the day and sometimes even continuously for days, becoming overactive and experiencing reduced need for sleep or resting, followed by periods of depression, when they are are extremely depressed.
