Guided imagery relaxation
Guided imagery is a way of employing psychodrama in which the aim is to guide the client achieves a relaxed state and this is done by slowly suggesting pictures scenarios by the therapist. The gateway of the process is an intuition from which the client and therapist tries to uncover emotionally charged memories that is of significance for intervention. Several forensic psychologists have agreed that guided imagery creates a state similar to that of hypnosis and is equally unreliable.
Guided imagery techniques involves the activities a therapist exhibits with the goal of assisting the clients to achieve a more realistic perspective of the situation, through repeated process of visualization, they are sometimes projected into the future and brought back on the present situation by the therapist. The technique have been used by psychotherapist in various therapeutic condition. Different therapies like CBT, Psychodrama, CFT, Biofeedback, etc employ this particular technique.
