Hypnagogic hallucination
The term Hypnagogic hallucinations, which is also sometimes called waking dreams, are a specific type of hallucination that occurs when a person is drifting off to sleep. In general, hallucinations is typically involved with hearing, seeing, feeling, or smelling something that isn’t actually present. Or to put it in other words, to have false perception. Hallucination therefore can occur in all five sensory modalities. Hypnagogic hallucinations primarily visual hallucination that is it involves seeing things that aren’t present in reality.
Although experiencing hallucination all of a sudden might prompt confusion or fear, hypnagogic hallucinations are comparatively common and likely is not something to worry about. Hypnagogic hallucinations are among the common symptom of narcolepsy, but are not limited to people suffering from narcolepsy. In fact, a study about hypnagogic hallucination found that 37% of people are found to report experiencing hallucinations as they are on the verge of falling asleep.
