Infrequent cataplexy
Cataplexy are usually infrequent and occurs only at certain specific condition. Thus is often referred to infrequent cataplexy. Cataplexy can be defined as a sudden, or brief loss of voluntary muscle tone that is triggered by strong emotions like a laughter. The condition of cataplexy is mostly connected with narcolepsy, which is a sleep disorder that is thought to effect a large scale of population. Here it should be clarified that cataplexy occurs only during the hours one is awake. When there is a mild attack, there may be hardly visible weakness in a muscle, which includes drooping of the eyelids and other symptoms. A more severe episode might however be involved in a total body collapse. Although they are two different and independent condition, cataplexy is often misdiagnosed as a seizure disorder. There is till date no cure for cataplexy, but it can be managed and treated symptomatically with medications and also by modifying the potential triggers.
