Investigation
Investigating bluntly refers to maintaining regular surveillance over or to keep an eye over a certain thing which is of importance. The investigation of a thing is usually done by person when there is the need to find out the reason underlying a specific incident or to keep a check on the quality, quantity or growth of it. We investigate to understand the reasons underlying a specific incident or to excavate the truth as well as to make sure that the work or the goal we have attempted is being done fine, which is an important step towards growth. Self investigation, or introspection that is looking into oneself becomes extremely important to no only understand the reasons of our failure but also to understand the capabilities we possess that requires nurturance.
However, clients suffering from certain disorders often over investigate normal incident out of suspiciousness and insecurity. This behaviour is clearly maladaptive and causes clinical distress.
