Limbic system
The limbic system is an integral part of the brain, thus an important part of the Central Nervous System, it is involved in our behavioural and emotional responses. Researchers have found that it is major important role when it comes to behaviours that we exhibit for need for survival, for example feeding, the process of reproduction and caring for the young offspring, and also plays a major role in the fight or flight responses.
The limbic system buried deep beneath the cerebral cortex and is positioned just above the brainstem. The thalamus, hypothalamus, which is important for the production of necessary hormones and regulation of thirst, hunger, mood, etc and basal ganglia which is the reward processing, movement habit formation, and learning centers are also involved in the function of the limbic system, its two major structures are the hippocampus and the amygdala. It is the seat of emotion.
