Locus of control
Locus of control refers to a person's belief that events are either within one’s control or are determined by forces beyond one’s control. There are some who have the courage to face and handle any type of situation. While there are some people who submit to the situation of pressure.
Locus control is of following two types:
- Internal locus of control
- you feel like you have control over your own life’s events.
- You see an obstacle as a challenge and not a barrier.
- You believe in your ability to influence the world around you.
2.External locus of control
- You feel like you have little control over the events in your life.
- You may attribute an outcome to fate, luck, or efforts of another person.
- you are less likely to try something because you believe you can’t make a difference.
It is considered healthier for an individual to give themselves credit for their actions, but because locus of control can be circumstantial there is no definite right or wrong.
