Maladaptive eating patterns
Maladaptive Eating pattern refers to the phenomena where a person consumes food at incorrect time and incorrect amount. The amount of food consumed is sometimes out of proportion, resulting in over eating or under eating. In the either case causing clinically significant effect upon both physical and psychological health.
The people resorting to maladaptive pattern of eating, either over eats to keep themselves occupied, looking actively for reinforcement, or under eats pathologically because of the fear of weight gain. There are high chances of individual who exhibit maladaptive eating pattern to develop psychological disorders like Anorexia Nervosa where individuals severely reduce food intake to cut down their calories, Bulemia Nervosa where people eat large amount of food in small span of time or develop binge eating disorder where a person consumes large amount of food and feels they are not in control of their eating, etc.
