Morphine
Morphine is the most rich painkiller opiate found in opium. Morphine is used medically for pain relief but is also used illegally for entertainment purposes among drug users. It has the capacity to make people highly addictive. The use of morphine may lead to intense physical dependence that causes abuse of the substance.
Morphine is a naturally occurring substance, extracted from the seedpod or it is poured out from the poppy plant, Papaver somniferum.
Most common clinical uses of morphine are; pain reliever after severe trauma or injury except head injury, pain reliever in advance cancer treatment or terminal cancer pain, pain reliever after surgery.
The side effects of morphine vary and depend on factors such as dosage, strength, and how long people have been using the medication.
Some possible short term and long term side effects of morphine includes; nausea and vomiting, constipation, slow breathing, difficulty urinating, changes in heart rate, erectile dysfunction, stomach pain, weight loss, dry mouth, poor appetite, increased blood sugar, problems with menstruation etc.
