Neurobiology
The word Neurobiology is amalgamation of three words the ‘neuro’, ‘bio’ and ‘logy’. Therefore neurobiology can be literally perceived as the study of that branch of biology which involves neurons or at large the nervous system of animals.
The study of neurons or nervous system involves detailed knowledge about the different components of nervous system like the neurons, the neurotransmitters, the different systems of neurons that are involved in the functioning of the humans, proceeding to the deficits in them, the problem caused by injury in nervous system and study of those factors that promotes heath of the system.
The knowledge of neurobiology is important for understanding the disorders and malfunctioning in disorders which involves neural degeneration. For understanding the biological basis of learning and behaviour,it is important to understand how neural connections are modified and the concept of neural plasticity.
