Overdose
An overdose is when people start taking more than the normal or prescribed amount of something, often a drug. An overdose can cause serious harmful symptoms or death.
If people take too much of something on purpose, it is known as an intentional or deliberate overdose. When the overdose happens by mistake, it is known as an accidental overdose.
An overdose is not as equal as poisoning, although the effects might be the same. Poisoning happens when someone or something exposes people to dangerous chemicals, plants, or other harmful substances without their knowledge.
A large overdose can lead a person to stop breathing or even death. People might need to be admitted to the hospital to continue treatment. Depending on the drug take one or more than one organs can be affected. This may affect an individual outcome and chances of survival.
