Parenthood is the most important criterion of a person’s transition to maturity and adult responsibility. Parenting refers to the act and responsibility of a couple to take care and nurture their offspring. The birth of the first child marks a major transition in the parent’s life, transforming the husband-wife relationship from a diode to triad. This new person, who is totally dependent upon them changes individuals and changes relationships. Both men and women generally have mixed feelings about becoming parents.
