Personal
Anything that we think is solely associated with us, we refer to it as personal. While calling something personal, we tend to consider how much of the it belongs to us only and is seldom shred with society, if at all. Since we live in a society, our identities are often diffused with the personality of other people living in our society. Personal identity generally refers to the the problem of the nature of the identity of persons and their persistence through a consistent amount of time.
Eminent philosopher Locke said that the identity of persons is comprised of sameness or similarity of consciousness. This is generally interpreted to indicate that identity is made up of facts about memory. Here, it should be mentioned that although higher animals live in society as well, there are only few animal species, apart from human beings who have an independent personal life.
