Praise
When we recognize that a person has done something which is of importance or value, we usually try to let that person know that his or her deed or accomplishment had brought about a positive effect. This verbal or nonverbal appreciation is termed as praise. When a person is praised, he or she not only is appreciated for what he or she have achieved but also provided with encouragement to perform that activity again over a period of time.
According to BF Skinner, when a person receives positive reinforcement, the tendency of the person to redo that behaviour increases. Therefore, positive reinforcement or praise is an important factor when it comes to learning of a specific behaviour. Apart from this, Skinner also believed that when omission occurs, it reduces the tendency of a person to repeat a specific behaviour. Therefore, praising at appropriate time can result learning of behaviour.
