Self preservation
Self preservation refers to the act of protection oneself from any damage or destruction. In other words, it is the most natural and instinctual tendency of any human, animals or living beings in general to protect oneself from any kind of harm that the nature or the immediate environment might impart. It refers to the innate desire to stay alive.
Among the instinctual forces that drives an individual, this is the most basic force. The urge to live. When a person loses the urge or preserving oneself, that is nurturing oneself, one usually end up living a life with no hope. The essentials of preserving oneself are the one’s that are explained by the two basic needs of Maslow. The physiological needs and the security need. That is, to preserve oneself, at the bare minimum, a person requires food, water, sleep sex and keeping oneself safe from threats.
