Statutory rape
Statutory rape is a common word in jurisdiction which refers to the non forced sexual activity where one of the individuals has not yet reached the age of consent that is the age which is lawfully required to consent to the activity. Although, in a casual language it usually denotes to the adults who are engaging in sexual contact with minors who have not yet attained the age of consent, here it is used as a generic term, and only certain jurisdictions employs the actual term statutory rape in the language of statutes.
The words like child sexual abuse or child molestation is also used as synonyms, but statutory rape typically indicates to sex between an adult and a minor who is past the age of puberty, and may therefore be differentiated from child sexual abuse. Sexual relations with a prepubescent child is lawfully treated as a more serious crime.
