Tactile stimulation
Tactile stimulation refers to the touch sensation, Traditionally, touch was thought to be a single sense. Research have found that it include three distinct skin senses, responding to pressure, temperature, and pain.
Pressure
The stimulus for sensation of pressure is physical pressure on the skin. Although humans are not aware of steady pressure on the entire body (such as air pressure), they can discriminate among variations in pressure over the surface of the body. Some parts of actively sensing the intensity of pressure: The lips, nose, and cheek.
Temperature
The temperature of our skin is the stimulus for temperature. The receptors are neurons just beneath the skin.
Pain
Of all our senses pain captures maximum attention, despite discomfort it causes, sensation of physical pain is of immense importance. It would be impossible for children to learn not to touch a hot stove, or to stop chewing their tongues.
