Viral infection
The infection or inflammation which are induced by microorganism called the virus is a viral infection. Viruses are generally unicellular organisms with genetic material, DNA or RNA, that are surrounded by a coat made of protein. A viral infection occurs when there is the proliferation of a harmful virus within the body.
The different types of viral infections are:
- Respiratory viral infections: this virus usually affect the nose, lungs and airway. They spread when droplets containing virus particles are inhaled.
- Rhinovirus: This virus commonly causes the common cold. Symptoms like headache , coughing, and sore throat usually last for 14 days.
- Seasonal influenza: The symptoms are more severe than the common cold including body aches and severe fatigue.
- Respiratory syncytial virus: This virus can infect upper respiratory as well as lower respiratory tract. It can cause severe physical distress among the elderly and among toddlers and infants.
