Attack therapy
Attack Therapy right from its conception have about a lot of controversy. This therapy emerged from ventilation treatment which circumscribes the negative and positive self images the clients posses about themselves. This type of treatment used for those who have dealt with behavior modifying and substance abuse.
What to expect?
The goal of Attack Therapy to radically change the individual by rebuilding them from the ground up, or creating new awareness that was not there before. Part of this this rebuilding of the client's self esteem based on new beliefs and morals by listening to the perception of others. By building and creating a moral belief within themselves Attack Therapy usually boosts the client's self esteem by making the clients feel comfortable within their own skin.
How Attack Therapy Works?
Attack Therapy begins by putting the client in an individual or group setting. By first addressing the problem which varies from client to clients, the client is questioned in a way that the questioner attacks their current behavior and state of mind. If this session is held in a group setting the attack is done by other individuals who are allowed to question the behavior of the client and the reason of acting in the way the client act. As a reality check the client is often seen to break down from this confrontation. At times they are the client is denied the permission to leave the room until the issue has been resolved.
It is often recommend to conduct the therapy with other members of a group because this results in the patient will to realize. Most of the time, it do not work immediately. The venture is to eliminate the current ego state and create a new way of thinking that compliments their needs, wants and relationships. In an individual session with a therapist it is bit more difficult as it might depict that the counselor has a dislike toward the client. The ambition of the therapy is not to attack the patient for distain but to increase awareness and understand about their behavior and how it is affecting everything else.
There are some cases where a person needs a confrontation or an attack, and this is the best way to create and facilitate a turn around. The only clear truth is that although this is one of the most controversial therapy, this therapy will probably continue to exist long into the future because of the result it produces.

Role of the therapist:
This therapeutic procedure allows the client to be verbally demoralized by the counselor or other patients in a group session. Tearing someone down seems on the surface to be destructive. Although it would be wrong to conclusively say that attack therapy is universally unhealthy, it is also worth mentioning that it involves great risk and can be potentially destructive.
