Sleep Walking
Parasomnias
Parasomnias are abnormal behaviors that occur during sleep.
SLEEP WALKING
Occurs at least once during non-rem sleep in 15% to 30% of children under age 15. Causes may include extreme fatigue, sleep deprivation, sedative or hypnotic drugs and stress. Adult sleepwalking is usually associated with other psychological disorders, may have a genetic link.
There is an increasing awareness that sleep is important for both our mental and our physical wellbeing. Sleep problems are also comorbid with many other disorders and therefore can compound the difficulties.
