Personality
Personality is a total and overall description of a person. It includes the way one perceives things, ones feelings, interpersonal behavior, and also ones effect on others.
There are four major approaches that attempt to understand, describe and measure the various units of personality. One is the trait approach, the oldest and the most popular. This assumes that the personality of a person can be understood by listing the qualities he/she possesses.
An extremely Important concept in trait psychology is introversion-extraversion. An extravert is poised confident and facile in situations. They are also bold, assertive, lively, energetic, enthusiastic and optimistic. An introvert on the other hand can be broadly sketched as more quiet and reserved, more socially aloof and interpersonally effective.
The measurement of the characteristics has usefulness in understanding people, mental health problems, educational and vocational guidance.
