Ambivalence
The word Ambivalence refers to a state, where a person have conflicting reactions with occurs simultaneously. There exists feelings or beliefs that occurs towards some object or a person which are contradictory to one another. To put it in a different way, ambivalence can be understood as an experience of an attitude that occurs towards someone or something, which is generally comprised of both positively as well as negatively valenced components. The term ambivalence has also been used to refer to a situations where a general mixed feeling is experienced, where a person is indecisive or uncertain about their state.
Here it is worth mentioning that attitudes that are Ambivalent comparatively more susceptible to information that are transient (for instance, mood), resulting in an evaluation that is more malleable. However, it has been observed that ambivalent people invest a lot of energy in thinking about attitude-relevant information, which makes them more prone to get persuaded by (compelling) the information that are attitude-relevant compared to that of less-ambivalent people.
