Cyclothymia
Cyclothymia or cyclothymic disorder, is an uncommon mood disorder. Cyclothymia typically causes emotional ups and downs, these mood ups and downs are not as extreme as those occurring in bipolar I or II disorder. With cyclothymia, clients usually experience periods when their mood noticeably and with substantial variety shifts up and down from the baseline or euthymic range. The person might feel on top of the world for a time, which very soon is followed by a low period when he or she feel emotionally down yet not very low as in depression . Between these cyclothymic highs and lows, there are phases when all the symptoms are absent and the person is fine. Despite the highs and lows of cyclothymia being less extreme than those of bipolar disorder, it is quite important to seek help, since it might lead to more serious conditions like bipolar I or II disorder.
