Manipulation
There are times when one individual or a group try to pursue another individual or another group to act or perform in a way, here one party is trying to influence another to ensure that there is a change a behavior, or action, these phenomena is termed as manipulation. Manipulation, therefore is a type of social influence. Here, one thing should be made clear that social influence is not always negative. The procedure can often be helpful to the society at large. When the behavior of an individual is manipulated in a way that it can bring about societal gain, like what is done by therapists, teachers and friends, making them realize their what they are capable of, correcting their maladaptive behavior or reorienting their viewpoint about life, manipulation can helpful. On the other hand, negative manipulation can have havoc effect on the mental and physical health of an individual.
