Masculinity
The term masculinity by it's traditional definition means a set of behaviour associated with men. Masculinity characteristics include being physically strong, dominant, assertive, leader, independent and brave.
Masculinity is the notion of having belief that men should owe all the responsibilities. But with changing times and empowerment of women in work scenarios, it has been seen that women too are strong, independent, assertive etc. It's time that society realizes that masculinity or femininity are not traits to be associated with depending on gender, instead it depends on the character.
Masculinity is not developed due to genes and hormones and it is not essential for boys or men. Boys and men can retain their gender identities without following their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to masculine norms.
Many men have difficulty expressing emotions due to toxic masculinity. Boys who express their feelings are compared to girls in negative ways. This affects the mentality and the emotions are repressed throughout life.
Not stressing on society's thought of masculinity, a man must be free to pick and choose what kind of man he wants to be.
