Mating
Biologically speaking, mating refers to the pairing up of two individuals (or organism) of two opposite sex, belonging to the same species ensuring transmission and reception of reproductive cells (or gametes) to result in fertilization, with the purpose of sexual reproduction. Speaking lucidly, mating is often used as synonym of copulation which indicates the union of sex organs of two opposite sex partners or sexually reproducing animals and it is achieved with the process of insemination and subsequent internal fertilization, eventually resulting in formation of a zygote.
Mating behavior is evident in all species who reproduce sexually, to ensure gene transference and gene survival over generation. Mating is not only used to refer to the process of sex cell propagation in humans but also for other species like bacteria, archaea and viruses. However, mating behaviour is unique and specific to each species.
