Neurosis
Neurosis refers to the bodily disturbances without any structural or bodily defects. The neurosis symptoms are infact the function of certain mental disturbances, origin of which is not understandable by the patients. Neurosis is the part of total reaction that occurs in the body because of some external or internal factors. In the reality contact of the patient remain intact through out the disorder span where the unconscious projection are absent and do not occur. The area of language functioning also remain intact. Neurosis is usually socially conditioned and not result of any kind of organicity. Psychodynamically speaking, it reflects the conflict between ego and libido. Researchers believes that Neurosis can be hereditary.
The common disorders where neurosis occurs includes Depression, Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive disorder, etc. The disorders can be successfully treated by psychotherapy and do not always require pharmacotherapy.
