Psychic trauma
Psychic trauma can understood as an emotional response which a person emits towards a terrible event. For events to cause a psychic trauma, the traumatic events should be relevant to the person who is evincing the event. The events, for example can be an accident, rape, abuse, military attacks, massacre or natural disaster. Immediately after the occurrence of the event, human being’s experience of a shock and denial are typical to its species.
Psychic trauma often results in longer term reactions, like flashbacks, unpredictable emotions, strained relationships, sometimes extending to the physical symptoms like headaches or nausea. Humans often finds it difficult to deal with these traumas, leading to development of psychopathology. Psychologists and clinical psychologists can assist these individuals, so that they can successfully find constructive ways of managing their emotions and live a life without psychological distress, and experience an improvement in their mental health condition.
