Psychological vulnerability
We call a person psychologically vulnerable when he or she is exposed to the possibilities of manipulation from psychological variables. Usually, when such an individual is exposed to the condition which can bring about changes in the psychological state, he or she is more likely to experience the change than those who do not have the vulnerabilities.
The kind of vulnerabilities can range from the genetic vulnerabilities, which an individual is born with, to the one which occurs due to environmental stimulation. A psychologically vulnerable person is at a higher risk of developing a mental disorder when exposed to factors which can be a potential cause of the disorder, than that of the general population. Here one thing should be remembered, merely because one is more vulnerable towards development of certain disorder than the general population does not necessarily mean that he or she will develop the disorder.
