Real self
As social animals, we are driven by our instinct to act in a certain way. However, how we act, often depends upon the social as well as the personal situation in which we are at the present. Humans try to adapt to a situation by moulding himself or herself in a way that it become easier for them to be in the situation. When, we are kept away from inhibition, or are in an environment that is empathetic, or in a safe corner as one might perceive, we express a sense of self or personality which is often quite different from the social self that we possess.
Although every individual possess a real and a projected self, when there exists a huge difference between the real and the projected self, the individual is often at a predisposition to develop certain psychopathology. Since difficulty in adaption with everyday situations.
