Sexual abuse
Sexual abuse is referred to unwanted, intrusive sexual activity, where the perpetrators use some kind of force, like making threats, black mails, or creating and then afterwards taking the advantage of victims not able to give consent. It should be noted that in most cases the consent is taken from the victim, even if the consent is taken, it is taken in a form where the victim is not given complete information.
The worst part bout most sexual abuse is that most victims and perpetrators usually knows each other in someway or the other. Often, they are second degree relatives of the victims. There are certain reactions to sexual abuse, including immediate reactions like fear, shock, or disbelief, long-term symptoms like anxiety, in severe cases post-traumatic stress disorder. Unfortunately, efforts to treat offenders still remain unpromising, psychological interventions for survivor like group therapy is found to be effective.
