Sexual excitement
The sexual response cycle, an integral part of sexual behaviour has four phases: the excitement, the plateau, the orgasm, and the resolution. These phases are experienced by both men and women, which is usually not experienced at the same time in both of them. The phase of excitement involves the following:
- It can last only a few minutes to several hours.
- Muscle tension gradually increases.
- The Skin might get flushed (resulting in blotches of redness on the chest and back).
- Heart rate increases and breathing is accelerated.
- Nipples are hardened or erected in the process.
- Vaginal lubrication occurs.
- Blood flow to the genitals increases, causing a swelling in the woman's clitoris and labia minora (inner lips), and erection of the male phallus.
- The breasts of the woman gets fuller and the vaginal walls initiates swell.
- The man's testicles are swelled up, their scrotum tightens and secrete lubricating liquid.
