Stage fright
Stage fright, which is commonly termed as performance anxiety, refers to a state of anxiety or fear that might occurs when an individual faces the requirement of performing or acting out in front of an audience or onlookers either directly or through a screen, that is in front of a camera. It generally affects all kinds of people who had to appear in front of an audience, even when they are not necessarily engaged in any activity. It can affect dancers, musicians, teachers politicians or athletes.
The symptoms can occur at different levels, like- Physiological, Cognitive, or Behavioural. Often, stage fright is connected with the social phobia, that is characterized by the various cognitive errors like unrealistic assessment of what is expected from a person, underestimation of one’s capabilities, overestimation of others opinion, unrealistic expectations of others' responses to anxiety and/or the thought that one can be rejected.
